
Adele Mara (April 28, 1923 - - May 7, 2010 American) was an American actress and singer. She was a part of films in the 1940s as well as the 1950s[2] as also on television during the 1950s as well as the 1960s. Under the professional name of Adele St. Mara, she won a contract with Columbia Pictures[citation neededand began to work in the studio's "B" feature films as well as comedy shorts. This was soon shortened to Adele Mara. Mara was a receptionist in Three Stooges' film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks and Leslie Brooks portrayed the sisters as Rita Hayworth's character in Fred Astaire's film You Were Never Lovelier. She is the character Alias Boston Blackie (1942) in the role of the sister of the wrongfully accused and exiled prisoner. When her Columbia contract lapsed and she was transferred to Republic Pictures, where she was a regular in the studio's westerns as well as outdoor adventure. The actress was featured in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch featuring John Wayne, Angel in Exile (leading lady), Sands of Iwo Jima with John Wayne in which she was John Agar's love-interest, California Passage (leading lady), and Don Siegel's Count the Hours (supporting role).
